Peak is when energy demand is at its highest, CEC must pay the cost associated with purchasing and delivering energy to members and transmission costs are based on times when energy consumption is at its highest or peak usage times.

Having a big sale, on-site celebrity, or other event? Be sure to announce it so everybody knows and gets excited about it.That is the time when we know how much demand me must have to adequately supply power to the members. Peak is when the cost for energy is the highest based on supply and demand at the time its produced, by cutting back CEC is not having to purchase as much  power at the higher price and the saving are passed on to the members.

Peak typically occurs between the hours of 4 pm and 6 pm in the summer months, starting June 20th and ending September 9th.

• Raise your thermostat 3 degrees in the summer
• Delay major appliance usage times in the kitchen and laundry room
• Delay hot water usage
• Turn off unnecessary light and appliances
• May be a good time to take kids to the pool or mall
• Maybe grill instead of using the oven

By cutting back during peak you will not get cash back but you can see a reduction in your usage, which helps CEC to maintain rates. We encourage members to download our Smarthub APP  to keep track of their daily usage.

We do notifications by Facebook, SmartHub, and radio announcements.
